Why do church? I have long believed that attending church should be a very important aspect of a person’s life. More and more opportunities are now available for substituting in presence worship with a “live” online alternative. I understand this is wonderful option for some, because of an impediment or a challenge that prohibits them from getting to a church to worship. You can watch worship on a screen, but can you really experience it? When we endured COVID and the lock downs that went along with it, we, like many churches, did what we thought was protecting the safety of our members. I don’t remember how many months I arrived at the church on Sunday Morning and was greeted by an empty building, preached to a camera set up in an empty sanctuary, and left without encountering another human being. We did church, people sat at home and worshiped because, while it’s true you can worship God anywhere, I believe God wants us in His house worshiping corporately (together). In the early church the Bible says they met daily. I know the world is squeezing the church out making it more and more of a challenge to find time to attend. That is why we have to make sure we choose to make it a priority to give God that one morning of the week and say here I stand, hand in hand together with others who believe that worship is something we experience when we come together. Jesus made you a priority in laying down His life for you, can’t you spare a couple of hours a week for Him?
